Wyoming Pony Express Stations
The Pony Express followed the Oregon, California and Mormon Pioneer Trails through Wyoming. There are forty-two Pony Express station sites extending west from Cold Springs Station near Torrington to Bear River Station near Evanston, Wyoming. Though no original structures remain, most of the sites are marked by a granite monument or a stainless-steel post placed in the 1960s by the National Pony Express Association. Many are accessible by car, but some require a high-clearance four-wheel drive, and those between South Pass and Farson require an off-road vehicle due to the deteriorated condition of the road.
Detailed trail guides are available at the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center in Casper, Wyo.
