Piedmont Charcoal Kilns
The ghost town of Piedmont includes remnants of old homes, cemeteries and the photogenic Piedmont Charcoal Kilns. Take I-80 Exit 24, Piedmont Road/County Road 173, southwest of Fort Bridger. Follow Piedmont Road approximately 6 miles. The sign at the charcoal kilns, erected by Wyoming State Parks, Historic Sites and Trails, mentions Calamity Jane as “frontierswoman and professional scout."
Site grounds are open sunrise to sunset year round, weather permitting. For more information contact the Fort Bridger Office at (307) 782-3842 or visit http://wyoparks.state.wy.us/Permits/Index.aspx.
