Lost Cabin
Lost Cabin, founded by the sheep king John B. Okie, is located three and a half miles northeast of Lysite, Wyo. Lysite is about 10 miles north of Moneta, and Moneta is 21 miles east of Shoshoni on U.S. Route 20/26. Even today, the isolation of the place is startling, as is the contrast between the leafy green trees shading the mansion and the dry hills that stretch all around. A drive to Okie’s town makes it easy to imagine the remoteness that he and the other Lost Cabinites seem to have welcomed at the turn of the last century. The mansion is closed to the public.
