Gebo, Wyoming

To visit the ruins of the former coal camp of Gebo, travel north from Thermopolis on Highway 20-26 for 12 miles and turn left on Sand Draw Road. From Worland, travel south on Highway 20-26 for 21 miles and turn right on Sand Draw Road.

At the first fork, go left for approximately ½ mile. The expanse in front of you is the former location of Gebo. Numerous roads will allow you to see only the remaining fan from Owl Creek Coal Company Mine No. 1, several building foundations, the walls from several so-called rock houses, several stone dugouts and interpretive signs from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
